Description: 10th century AD. A glazed ceramic bowl with a central painting of a seated figure with two long braids holding a cup in one hand and a branch(?) in the other, a bird on each side with a leaf(?) in a beak; traces of paint to the reverse. Cf. Lane, A. Early Islamic Pottery: Mesopotamia, Egypt & Persia, London, 1947, plate 13; for the type see Metropolitan Museum of Art, Accession number 1977.126. 513 grams, 24cm (9 1/2"). Property of a European collector living in London; acquired before 2000.
