Description: 16th-17th century AD. A pair of large gold earrings consisting of a thick crescent hoop with thin ends wrapped around and with two suspension loops; teardrop-shaped shield to the front set with a garnet; below hoop three hollow gold spheres with filigree decoration, teardrop-shaped shield to the front set with a garnet; further two spheres to the base of decreasing size, both with filigree decoration. 29 grams total, 55mm (2 1/4"). Property of a North West London gentleman; formerly with a central London gallery in 1990. [2]
