Description: scrolling acanthus and dragons, figural dragon carved handholds and scale arms, carved interlaced seat rial above relief carved panels raised on square carved and fluted legs ending on bun feet, upholstered in 17th century tapestry fragments, ht. 64, dp. 27-in. N.B.: Luigi Fruillini [1839-97] was a Florentine sculptor who turned to furniture making. His work was exhibited at the world Exhibitions of 1862 and 1867. His work includes the carving and decoration for the dining room and library at Chateau Sur Mer, Newport, Rhode Island.
