A 16-BORE ROTARY-UNDERLEVER HAMMERGUN, serial no. 7822,
30in. black powder only fine damascus barrels, rib engraved ''J. PURDEY 314 1/2 OXFORD STREET. LONDON'', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. in both, some pits, carved percussion fences, rebounding back-action island locks with dolphin hammers, fine border and acanthus scroll engraving, the lockplates signed ''PURDEY'', retaining traces of colour-hardening and some renewed finish, 14 1/2in. figured stock including steel buttplate, weight 7lb., in its brass-mounted oak case with original charges label


Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that this gun was completed in 1868 with 30in. barrels, and sold to Col. J. Daniels
