Built by Lawrence & Foulks at Brooklyn in 1862, the "Daniel S. Miller" carried passengers between New York, Newburgh and Poughkeepsie. She also transported freight, including the Hudson Valley's fruit crops. Renamed the "Poughkeepsie" in 1900, the steamboat was destroyed by fire after docking at Highland in June 1910. Oil on canvas mounted to board, 30 x 50 inches. Signed "Drawn & Painted by J. Bard NY 1862/ 162 Perry St." l.r.Provenance: Thomas G.
