Oil on canvas, 44 x 36 inches. Initialed l.l.Antigna's "L'Incendie," frequently reproduced in French publications of the mid-nineteenth century, depicts a man calling for help through an open window. Cafferty's adaptation depicts a fireman appearing at the window and may have been a commissioned piece for a fire chief or company. He is known to have painted portraits of several firemen.
