Van Bloemen h: 31 w: 42,50 cm Provenance : Collection Simonetti, Rome, son cachet à plusieurs reprises au verso des toiles ; Collection particulière, Paris Commentaire : Anversois d''origine, Jan Frans van Bloemen séjourna à Paris puis à Lyon où il fut l''élève d''Adriaen van der Cabel qui s''y était installé à son retour de Rome. Leurs chemins se croisèrent puisque van Bloemen se rendit en 1689 à Rome pour y rejoindre son frère Pieter, dit Standart, qui s''y était forgé depuis quinze ans une solide réputation de peintre de chevaux. Un an plus tard le dernier de la fratrie, Norbert les rejoindra. Si Norbert et Pieter van Bloemen retournent à Anvers, Jan Frans y passera le reste de sa vie et y mourra à l''âge canonique de 89 ans. Spécialisé dans les paysages classiques idylliques à la manière de Gaspard Dughet, ses perspectives toujours lointaines lui valent le surnom d''Orrizonte. Ses compositions sont souvent redondantes dans son œuvre, et nos deux petits tableaux font figures d''exceptions. Jan Frans van Bloemen abandonne ses sempiternels paysages arcadiens pour dépeindre deux lieux de la Rome de son époque. Le ''ponte Molle'', comme le nomment les romains, est plus connu sous le nom de ponte Milvio ou ponte Milvius. Il s''agit sous l''Antiquité du passage obligé pour entrer à Rome par la route du Nord. En 312, l''empereur Constantin y défit son rival Maxence au cours de la célèbre bataille éponyme. Le site était au milieu de la campagne comme le montre l''artiste dans notre toile. Le ponte Sisto, construit sous le pontificat du pape Sixte IV (1471-1484) auquel il doit son nom, relie au centre de Rome le campo Marzo au Trastevere. La basilique Saint Pierre est visible en arrière-plan de notre charmant petit tableau dont les inscriptions au verso de la toile d''origine témoignent d''une provenance d''une grande collection romaine.

Taxes and VAT: In addition of the lot's hammer price, the buyer must pay the following costs and fees/taxes:

Lots from the EEC:
• From €1 to €30,000: 25% + current VAT (for books, VAT = 1,375%; for other categories, VAT = 5%).
• From €30,001 to €1,200,000: 20% + current VAT (for books, VAT = 1,1%; for other categories, VAT = 4%).
