Approximately 400 leaves, profusion of full page and in-text woodblock maps and illustrations ranging a wide variety of everyday and cultural subjects designed as a source of important information for young men at court. Thick 4to, stitched printed paper covered boards, a bit worn at edges; internally very good. Japan, early nineteenth century

Notes: Samurai, cuisine, religion, and scientific studies are some of the related aspects of the volume. The final map illustrates a Dutch ship, representing one of the few countries actively engaging in trade with Japan during the era.
