Kenneth W. Maddox of the Newington-Cropsey Foundation compares this work to a similar work, in the Foundation's collection entitled 'Hudson Highlands Sunset'. He believes both were painted between 1895-1900, and probably closer to 1900.
'Autumn On The Hudson' will be included in the forthcoming catalogue raisonné of the works of Jasper Francis Cropsey by the Newington-Cropsey Foundation, Hastings-On-Hudson, New York.
