(american, b. 1930)
1972, pencil signed and dated, numbered 4/63 (there were also 9 artist''s proofs), Gemini G.E.L, Los Angeles, publisher and with their blindstamps. Color lithograph on Angoumois à la main.
image: 26 3/8 x 21 in. (67 x 53.3cm)
sheet: 38 1/2 x 29 1/2 in. (97.8 x 74.9cm)
[Gemini, 343; ULAE, 111]
With pale time and light staining. The sheet has irregular edges, which is inherent to the paper medium. With some faint surface soiling. Some minor wear at the extreme corners and sheet edges occassionally and an apparent registration mark/notch in the paper at upper center edge. A few small dark gray spots/stains in the margins, possibly stray ink from the printing process. With a few tiny fox marks, for example, approx. 2 foxmarks in the bottom margin at left and approx. 2 fox marks in the upper margin at right. With a few soft handling creases, for example an approx. 2 inch vertical soft handling crease extending from the bottom edge of the sheet at left and an approx. 1 inch horizontal soft handling crease in the margin to the left of the circle. In the region of the upper left corner, there is an approx. 1 x 1 inch area where the paper is skinned, within which there is an approx. 3/4 inch vertical thin line of loss to the paper. This appears to be a result of the removal of a previous hinge verso. Verso, there is skinning at both bottom corners, again consistent with removal of a previous hinge. Currently, the work is hinged to its support with glue in 4 places at the reverse of the upper sheet edge.
