Lot 83: JERRY LEWIS NUTTY PROFESSOR FULL FIGURE WITH COSTUME
June 15, 2013
El Segundo, CA, USALive Auction
Description: A rare and wondrous museum quality piece! From what many consider one of the greatest American comedy's ever produced, Jerry Lewis' 1963 "The Nutty Professor". This is a life size "Madame Tussauds" style stunningly realistic wax figure of Jerry Lewis as Professor Julius Kelp. From head to toe the attention to detail is spectacular, from the specially cut human hair toupee, to an exact recreation of his glasses, to his porcelain buck teeth, down to his three piece tweed suit, which is actually one of the production made suits created at Western Costumes for Mr. Lewis in the early "after lab explosion" sequence he has in Dr. Warfield's (Del Moore) office. Besides the original production suit, it also includes his shirt and bow-tie. His figure is anchored by a reproduction of his "squeaky" shoes, and the base is made of pieces of tile to represent his famous lab where he creates the "monster" Buddy Love! His beautifully detailed hands hold a test tube as he pours his secret formula into a beaker. The figure stands a full 70". (The original Western Costume tags from the production with Jerry Lewis' name, are in both the pants and the jacket). Oversized item. Additional Postage Required.
