Description: Monthly periodical. Judiache Turnzeitung. Established in Berlin in 1900, this was the official periodical of the Bar-Kochba Athletic Club. It encouraged athletics amongst young Jews. Zionist. Some black and white photos. Here are 12 issues from the 9th year, 1908, from January through December, bound together.With articles by the likes of Bialik and Nordau. [In 1900, he wrote an article in this periodical encouraging sport, and even invented a new, term 'Muscle Judaism' - 'Muskeljudentum'.]German. 23 cm. , 1-232 pages. Blue, soft covers. Complete. Brown cut leaves.'Agudat Bar Kochba, Berlin, Aguda Yehudit L'Hitamult', was founded in 1898 in Berlin by 48 youths, drawn together by Rabbi Wilhelm Levi. Its goals were: the cultivation of physical education, elementary knowledge of Jewish history and the Hebrew language, encouragement of Nationalism and the battle against assimilation. In 1904, Bar Kochba associations were opened outside of Germany.
