JOHN PRENTISS BENSON (American, 1865-1947) SAILING OFF BERMUDA. Unsigned oil on canvas backed by board scene shows a sailboat with figures aboard in full sail on light blue ocean under blue and white cloud sky. Housed in a good gilt molded wood replacement frame with linen and gilt liner. SIZE: 16" x 24". PROVENANCE: Letter accompanying painting states that this painting was acquired from the grandson through inheritance. CONDITION: Craquelure, surface dirt and one small chip in sky.
