Description: , editor ) The Harleian Miscellany , 8 vol., some light foxing and spotting mostly to endpapers, occasional browning, armorial bookplates to front pastedowns, rebacked in morocco, preserving earlier calf boards, gilt, a little rubbed and scuffed, 4to, 1744-6. All front pastedowns have two superposed bookplates, the former one only visible in vol. 8 is that of Thomas Walpole, nephew of Sir Robert Walpole, the prime minister from 1721 to 1742. In the early 1770s Thomas Walpole led a group of investors, including Benjamin Franklin, to seek from the crown a land grant in Ohio.
