Description: Joseph Manton, London, a pair of percussion cap duelling pistols, circa 1821, Nos. 8783 & 8787, converted from flintlock, with 9 1/2" heavy octagonal barrels, the engraved breech tangs incorporating rearsights and inlaid with platinum line and makers plug, flat detented locks with safety bolts, engraved with fern tip borders, scrolls and "Joseph Manton London", walnut halfstocks with horn fore end caps and blank silver escutcheons, steel mounts, the trigger guards with pineapple finials, the bows engraved with trophies of arms and serial numbers, wooden ramrods, white metal plaque applied to opposing side of one pistol bearing the name 'John George Musters, 10th Hussars, 1840'
