In 1860, Jacques Didisheim established a watchmaking workshop in the town of Saint-Imier in Switzerland, which was to become one of the world’s leading luxury Swiss watch manufacturers. Soon afterwards he moved his workshop to La Chaux-de-Fonds, where he found a more ideal environment for his intentions. After a technical breakthrough in 1880 in developing a movement with a cylinder escapement, the company became one of the first manufacturers to offer a ladies wristwatch. In the early 1900s, the first two boutiques were opened in Paris and Madrid. Over the years Juvenia revolutionized and continued to develop mechanisms and designs, e.g. in 1914 the smallest movement constructed on a single level was presented at the Swiss National Exhibition and in 1969 the classic ‘Milanais’ type watches were introduced at the Basel Fair. Until now, Juvenia is known for trend-setting and innovative case designs, quality and precision. (nlu)
