Description: Japan, presumably around 1500 to 16th century THE BLADE: Koto-era, the form a Shinogi-zukuri with Iori-mune, the Hada mokume, Hamon with fine Sanbon-sugi, running through both sides to the boshi, which offers komaru. . The Nakago is Ubu and has an Ana, the Yasurime is not fully distinct, the end of the tang Kurijiri. The Mei (Signature) reads NOSHU AKASAKA ju KANEMOTO 濃 州 赤 坂 住 兼 元. The name Kanemoto is represented often in the Mino school, the sword-master of this piece is probably of the second generation and was active in the 15th until the 1st half of the 16th century. This is made clear by the characteristics of the blade. The aforementioned Kanemoto was known as Magoroku 関 孫 六 in his circle. This name is also incised on the Shirasaya. Good to very good condition of the blade. NAGASA 42 CM, TOTAL LENGTH 54,8 CM THE KOSHIRAE: Shimmering black lacquer Saya, the Kozuka is signed Musashi no Kami Kunitsugu. The decorated side with Nanakoji and Takazogan partly with gold, shows a hunting scene. In the middle of said scene, a deer killed with an arrow. Fuchi (sleeve) and Kashira (pommel) of floral composition with parts of gold. Similarly of floral design, the ornaments (Menuki) between Same and Tsuka-ito (Ray skin and cord wrap). The oval iron Tsuba (guard), with one hitsu, is deliberately minimalistic of floral composition with gold and silver. On the backside, a suggestion of an idylic stream. The Habaki (ferrule) of two parts with gold on copper. TOTAL LENGTH 60,3 CM With an elegant silk brocade scabbard which contains tiny particles of gold, along with complete Shirasaya – on the Saya the signature Kanemoto, and below the mentioned Magoroku.
