VIII pp., 304 pp. Édition fort rare, donnée pour princeps par Larcher cité par Bengesco n° 1164, I, p. 333-334. - Voltaire à la B.N. n° 3086 conteste qu'elle puisse être la première puisque les fautes de l'errata d'une autre édition à la même date et même adresse mais à 336 pp. ont été corrigées dans notre édition. Ce texte paraît la même année « comme introduction aux Nouveaux mélanges philosophiques... ; en 1769, il deviendra, sous le titre de Discours préliminaire, l'introduction de l'Essai sur les moeurs et l'esprit des nations », dit V. à la BN. De la bibliothèque de Jean Stern (ex-libris), champion olympique d'escrime (jeux de Londres 1908). Très bel exemplaire en maroquin de l'époque. Petit trou de ver à une charnière.
