Description: A large Roman lamp with bust of Serapis above an eagle, late 2nd Century AD, the eagle clenches a thunderbolt within its talon, plain shoulder with grooves around the central discus, rounded nozzle, ring handle and flattened bottom. 6 3/8 in x 4 ¼ in (16.3 x 10.7 cm). Remains of orange slip, mottled deposits and carbon deposits on the nozzles. Ex Orange County private collection.
