NOTE
This painting is related to at least three other paintings by Kroll from 1911, in which he explored the depiction of figures within interiors incorporating mirror reflections. The present work is an extremely fine example of Kroll's lyrical impressionism of this period. Kroll had recently returned to New York from academic studies in Paris, where he was strongly influenced by the Impressionists and had been introduced to Post-Impressionism through the works of Cezanne and Van Gogh.
