Condition B / B+: expertly replaced right margin and upper left margin; repaired tears, restoration, and creases in margins and image.
A standout piece for Cappiello, and one of his very few travel posters. With well over 500 posters to his name, less than half a dozen of them are travel posters. This image also differs from most of his work because of the almost artistic attention he pays to the faces of the people and the other details. Gone are his trademark comic images and "humorous style, tinged with caricature, [the visual punch that arrested the viewer's attention with an unexpected or incongruous image" (Rennert, Cappiello p. 4). In their place Cappiello presents a tender, romantic, wistful and gently-handled scene in the long grass and wildflowers of the Cote d'Azur. Riviera cover and p. 57, Rennert / Cappiello 457.
