Description:

viii, 64 pp. Three Essays by Henry David Thoreau. Preface by Henry Miller. 8vo. Original cloth-backed decorative paper over boards, paper spine label, pictorial jacket by Lee Mullican, glassine dust wrapper. One of 500 copies designed by Jack Warner Stauffacher and printed at the Greenwood Press.

Signed by Henry Miller, Big Sur, Calif., on the front free endpaper. Besides the title essay, there is also "Civil Disobedience" and "John Brown's Body." Provenance: The Robert [Bob] Young collection of Henry Miller, deaccessioned from a California institution.

Condition Report: Glassine a bit darkened with ½x4" piece missing from lower edge of front panel; light offset to endpapers; near fine in like jacket.
