Lladró, established 1953
The Porcelain Manufactory Lladró was founded in 1953 by the brothers Juan, José und Vicente Lladró in Almàssera, Valencia. At the beginning they were specialized in earthenware. Since 1955 the three brothers began with the production of porcelain figures. The success and the enthusiasm of the figures let the company rise and the head office has to be settle down in Tavernes Blanques. Also the expansion to an abroad market was necessary. After the foundation of an own Professional Training School in 1962, the opening of the ‘City of Porcelain’ in 1969 and the 1986 opened Llardó museum in New York the company pass also its creative visions to following generations for today. Since the 1970s Lladró produced its figures with the earth-colored material gres, which was used for natural motives. Since the 1980s the Manufactory Llardó crafts large format works as limited editions, frequently from prominent sculptors. (ala)
