Louis-Ernest Barrias (French, 1841-1905), Silver and Ivory-mounted Figure of an Allegorical Maiden, Mysterious and Veiled 'Nature' Uncovering Herself Before Science, c. 1893-1908, Susse Freres foundry, part-gilt silver body with carved ivory face, torso, and hands, and mounted with lapis lazuli accents, signed to the hem of her robe, bearing French .950 silver hallmarks, on a porphyry base, ht. 16 in.
