Nostalgic Echoes Signed and dated "Luigi Lucioni 1954" l.r., label from Associated American Artists, on the reverse. Oil on canvas, 34 1/4 x 28 in. (86.9 x 71.1 cm), framed. Condition: Retouch. Provenance: From the artist to the father of the present owner. N.B. Lucioni immigrated to the United States in 1911, settling in New Jersey. He enrolled in art courses at Cooper Union and then moved onto the National Academy of Design where he was named the recipient of the Tiffany Foundation Scholarship. This award allowed Lucioni to return to his native Italy to study the Renaissance masters. His flat, linear style, a constant throughout his body of work, is an obvious derivation of this study.
