Vorliegendes Gemälde ist wohl identisch mit demjenigen Maccos, das 1793 auf der Berliner Akademieausstellung gezeigt wurde: "Vom Herrn Macco in Rom. 122) Cephalus und Procris, in Oehl" (s. Helmut Börsch-Supan: Die Kataloge der Berliner Akademie-Ausstellungen 1786-1850, Berlin 1971, Bd. 1: Berlin 1793, S. 21, Nr. 122). Der Hinweis auf den Historien- und Porträtmaler Alexander Macco stammt von Prof. Helmut Börsch-Supan, Berlin (mdl. gegenüber dem Vorbesitzer).
