Description: Map of the Israelites' Travels in the Desert. Amsterdam. P.Mortier. 1705. Voyage des Enfans d'Israel dans le Desert. Large map describing the travels of the Israelites in the desert. With the miniature illustrations in the map itself depicting the events that occurred in specific places such as, receiving the Torah on Mt. Sinai, the Egyptians drowning in the Reed Sea, and the Golden Calf. Altogether 43 numbered places. In the upper right hand corner there is a magnificent cartouche depicting the Israelites collecting manna in the desert. The map is in hues of green and yellow and the cartouche is multi-colored. The map was made by Pierre Mortier in the Atlas Antiquus, Amsterdam 1705. 400x470 mm. Original central fold. The bottom margin of the fold has separated, without any loss. Wide margins of about 70 mm. Foxing in the fold and in the upper margins, and a few stains on the map itself. Laor 507.
