Description: MARTA ARONSON-DANZIG
(danish 19th century)
PORTRAIT OF A NUN
Signed ''Marta Aronson-Danzig'' upper right, oil on panel
36 3/4 x 27 1/2 in. (93.3 x 69.9cm)
provenance:
Christie''s, New York, sale of May 13, 1978, lot 112.

Condition Report: Frame: 34 1/4 x 29 3/4 in.
In generally good overall condition, with most of the painting in original, unrestored condition, and with parts of the painting have some areas with retouch and restoration. We note that overall some passages in the painting are somewhat difficult to 'read' under u.v. light with complete accuracy due to the pigments used and some residual varnish. Some of the areas of retouch and restoration include: fill to a slight crack at upper center right, top, between the artist's first and middle names; some retouch and restoration to parts of figure's face, particularly at/near/under her left eye, and extending into part of her headdress, as well as lines of vertical retouch above/below her right eye; some restoration to part of her left wrist; some retouch/restoration in areas of background and to parts of figure's vestment. In natural light, there are some small, generally unobtrusive localized areas with thin crazing lines
