Description: 13th-14th century AD. A D-section gold hoop with balustered shoulders, rosette plaques and scrolled detailing; elliptical bezel with scooped sides, leaf and spiral detailing, inset cabochon garnet. Cf. Oman, C.C. Victoria and Albert Museum Catalogue of Rings, reprinted Ipswich, 1993, item 260. 5.35 grams, 26mm overall, 18.67mm internal diameter (approximate size British Q 1/2, USA 8 1/2, Europe 18.62, Japan 18) (1"). Property of a European gentleman living in the UK; formerly in a private collection formed in the 1990s. Accompanied by a positive X-Ray Fluorescence metal analysis certificate. The stone was examined in detail by Dr. Bonewitz who observed: 'A bright and lively stone. Has a few inclusions that don't detract.'
Condition Report: Very fine condition. A large wearable size.
