Description: 15th-16th century AD. A hollow-formed gold hoop formed from alternating square and discoid cells; each discoid cell domed with an octofoil on a hatched field; each square cell a starburst with blackletter script letter, the five letters are 'c a r o l' carol, for Carolus, the familiar latinisation of the English name Charles. Disclaimed under the Treasure Act, reference number 2013 T212. Recorded with the Portable Antiquities Scheme with reference number NCL-807A73; accompanied by a print out of the PAS report. Accompanied by an Art Loss Register certificate. 4.84 grams, 23mm overall, 18.23mm internal diameter (approximate size British P 1/2, USA 8, Europe 17.15, Japan 16) (1"). Found Skerne & Wansford, East Riding of Yorkshire, UK. Accompanied by a positive X-Ray Fluorescence metal analysis certificate.
Condition Report: Extremely fine condition, straightened. A large wearable size.
