Description: 13th-14th century AD. A mixed group of lead-alloy seal matrices comprising: a vesica matrix with strap and lug to the reverse, intaglio fleur-de-lys motif with partial legend '+ SIG[I]LV[M...] ALIC[...]' (seal of Alice ?); a discoid matrix with intaglio frond, partial legend 'ROB[...] ILL(V)ROB[...]' (Robert son of Robert?); a discoid matrix with lug to the reverse, intaglio cinquefoil with legend '+SEGNISPRE[...]GAL' (the sign of ?); a papal bulla with two bearded faces to one face, 'SPA.SPE' above; to the other, 'INNO / CENTIVS / PP III' within a beaded border. 88 grams total, 25-40mm (1 1 3/4"). Found Nottinghamshire, UK, 1990s-2000s. Pope Innocent III reigned from 8 January 1198 to his death on 16 July 1216. [4, No Reserve]
