Auction of the Galley Miethke, Vienna, with specifications on the provenance of the work as well as an old gummed label with the lot number and a customs document. Provenance: - Collection Dr. Max Strauß, Vienna. - Private Collection of the Rhineland. The drawing at hand presumably originated on one of his numerous journeys in the south of Germany, respectively Austria and Switzerland. Especially the drawings created in Interlaken in the south of Germany during the 1880s resembles the way of distinguishing the surface with dark and light tones in this drawing.
