The Mercedes-Benz W120 was the first car of the brand with a self-supporting chassis. In 1953 the executive car was introduced to the market as successor of the 170 (W 136) and was sold under the name Mercedes 180. The pontoon-shaped Mercedes 180 took over the 1.8-liter engine with 52 hp from its predecessor. In February 1954 the Mercedes 180 D with a 1.8 liter diesel engine with 40 hp followed, in 1955 its output was boosted to 43 hp.
There is no guaranteed information on this Mercedes-Benz 180D (W120) available. The car was presumably bought by the deceased father of the current owner around twenty years ago, it has never been registered. It was only moved with test drive plates. In 2002 the car fell victim to a flood, but it was dried up and set into operation again. From that point on it was only used to make sure it is still in order. The papers are not in existence. The current owner has been the vehicle's rightful owner since 2012.
