Description: Artist: ALDO MAZZA (1880-1964) Size: 27 1/4 x 55 in./69.3 x 139.7 cm G. Ricordi, Milano The 1910 Milan Air Meet marked the first midair collision between two planes in recorded history. On October 3, René Thomas in his Antoinette monoplane accidentally collided with the rear of Captain Bertram Dickson’s Farman biplane. Although both survived, Dickson’s piloting career was ruined due to extreme injury. This sweeping poster by Mazza is rare and wonderful on its own; however, this particular version has been written upon by Thomas, explaining in full detail the events of that fateful day. His signature has been verified, and is surrounded by various aviation award stamps.
