Lot 3384: MILLS 5 CENT BROWNIE SLOT MACHINE.
Important Toy, Doll & Advertising Auction
by James D. Julia
22 June 2012
Fairfield, ME, USA
Live AuctionDescription: The largest of the countertop color wheels produced by Mills from the earlier part of the 20th Century. A handsome oak case with original finish and decals and adorned with nickel-plated iron castings and a colorful wheel with ballerinas make this a highly sought after gambling device. Typical payouts of 2 to 1, 5 to 1, 10 to 1 and 20 to 1. The wheel itself has been altered, most likely by an operator as the typical color spots have been covered and replaced with gaming cards indicating the various payouts. The machine is a token payout and not a cash payout machine. Original finish to both wood and castings and including the original wood backdoor and cloth money bag. Machine is in operational condition, but in need of some minor lubrication. SIZE: Approx. 21" w x 29" t x 11" d. CONDITION: Very fine plus, coin head currently jammed, lacking key for coin head lock but machine is in functional working order otherwise. Iron payout cup has some deterioration to front lip due to oxidation. 1-11796
