Description: Chinese Ming Period Blue and White Porcelain Jar. The under glazed bulbous body, decorated with hand-painting in cobalt blue underglaze with stylized floral blooms within foliate cartouche, interspersed by further tendril foliate. The geometrical pattern and floral motifs banded to the neck, shoulder and foot. The underside left unglazed, revealed the pale-creme ground with grayish and darker spotted firing marks, with edge-cut foot rim. Presented elegantly upon a carved hardwood stand.

Provenance: PROVENANCE: From the heirs of Sir john Dorrington and the Vosper estates from Stroud Gloucestershire these items were purchased by a prominent antiques collector in 2008. Seeking historical and collectible items he attended numerous auctions and estate sales in the area as well as from nearby countries. Sometimes finding a rarity sometimes just the camaraderie of fellow collectors.
