Description: MISSALE ROMANUM: EX DECRETO SACROSANCTI CONILII TRIDENTINI ] Colophons (1642); (1643), [Lacking title leaf. Title given above is from a Worldcat record for a 1647 edition which otherwise had the same collation and also had 2-column Latin text printed in black and red.] Page xcii of the 2nd pagination consists of a register for the first 2 paginations and a colophon: (Venetiis, M.DC.XXXXII./ Ex Typographia Ciera. De Licentia Superiorum.) This is followed by 8 more pages by the same printer, carrying the same colophon, with the being changed from to M.DC.XXXXIII. 12 engravings (full page, mostly New Testament, mostly by Wolf Kilian). Large metalcut initial letters. Over 50 pages consist at least partly of musical score. Main portion of text: -, I-503, pp. Commune Sanctorum: j-lxxxvij, [lxxxviii]-[xcii] pp. This is followed by the 8-page Missae Propriae Sanctorum Celebrandae ad Libitum Eorum qui Missali Romano utuntur. Wove paper. ++ Light brown leather with 4 brass corner pieces on each cover. Upper foreedge clasp present, lower foreedge clasp lacking. Edges stained yellow. Green bookmark ribbons. Wove paper front endpaper, laid paper rear endpaper. Handwriting (not recent) on terminal inserted leaf. Tipped to rear endpaper is a 3-paragraph handwritten Pro Immaculata Concepcione S. M.i/ Oratio. Short split to base of front joint, corners frayed. Stains to lower portions of covers, light dampstain to lower corner of text of first few dozen leaves, beginning again around p385, and occurring intermittently farther along in volume. Small stains to some text pages. 5 leaves have a green fabric tab affixed with adhesive (later than the binding). 1 leaf carrying musical score is partly separated (pp227-228). Frequent repairs to text leaves (slightly overlapping lower portion of image of engraving on p218). Open tear slightly within printed area of pp1/2 and pp137/138. 8.2 Lb.
