Description: Confederate Presentation Model 1840 US Cavalry Officer's Sword and Scabbard, mid-19th c., blade marked "Clauberg/Solingen", nickel silver grip and scabbard, brass mounts, blade etched with "US" and an American eagle, scabbard mount engraved "Edgar Roman/2nd La/Cav. Regt./1861", blade l. 34 1/2 in. Provenance: Gaspar Cusachs, entrepreneur, historian and collector, (1855-1929); The Gaspar Cusachs Collection, loaned to the Louisiana State Museum, New Orleans, LA (c. 1909-2016).
