Description: This is an outstanding large rectangular shaped, paint decorated deep garden gathering basket from New England, circa 1800's for your consideration. _The antique basket is made of black ash with a large carved bentwood handle with the dark aged patina. _ The antique garden gathering basket was painted the _BestÓ traditional New England red stain.__There are many fine details that are incorporated into this splint basket. _The antique woven splint basket has a hand carved bentwood handle that_has been_notched and carved and deeply_woven into the sides of the basket. _The bottom of basket has an open weave to allow air flow and three additional garden ground runners._ There is a small minor loss in one of the corners (see photos), which doesnt affect the strength, character or integrity of this basket that is well over 100 years.
Condition Report: Excellent condition with an age appropriate wear and patina.
Dimensions: 18 inches long, 12 inches wide, 8 inches high not including handle.
