Description: This is an antique Native American Woodland Indian black ash woven splint basket from New England, circa 1800s for your consideration. ¾The antique Woodland Indians basket is handmade of black ash splints¾with a flat bottom¾open weave for resting.¾ The antique Woodland Indians basket has two carved small black ash bentwood handles.¾ The antique black ash basket¾has a bentwood band that surrounds the mouth of the basket and is tightly wrapped with¾a coiled single¾splint.¾ The basket is made with precision and beautifully hand crafted with fine workmanship and detail.¾ The outside of the antique Woodland Indians basket is decorated with porcupine twists.¾ The antique black ash woven splint basket has a nut brown patina that is so desirable and only comes from time and age.
