Description: This is a sailor made rolling pin from New England circa early 1800s. The sailor made rolling pin was handmade from one solid piece of walnut wood. This sailor made rolling pin because it has two different style handle ends, demonstrating the sailor's skill and hand working abilities. Sailing journeys were long and woodworking was a favorite pass time for a sailor to make something to bring back for a loved one. One end of the rolling pin has an egg shaped large knob and the other handle end tapers like a sailor's belaying pin used to secure rigging on ships.
Condition Report: Excellent condition with an age appropriate patina
