Description: This is an antique Shaker hand turned black ash wooden funnel from New England circa 1800s. The Shaker black ash funnel was hand turned out of a single piece of black ash. There are turn lines on the outside bowl and an inch beveled collar on the bowl that forms the mouth of the funnel. The mouth is community size for pouring liquid herbs and medicines into bottles. The New England Shakers were one of the first communities to produce tinctures and medicines that were sold to the outside world. The stem of the funnel is beveled into seven flat sides instead of being rounded to fit bottles. This prevented the funnel from turning while in use.
Condition Report: Excellent condition with age appropriate wear and patina
Dimensions: 6 inches long and 5 inches wide.
