Description: [New Orleans Yellow Fever], ledger book, register of yellow fever cases, Aug. 20-Oct. 21, 1878, attended by Dr. Wm. Ryan, 11 in. x 17 in. Provenance: Gaspar Cusachs, entrepreneur, historian and collector, (1855-1929); The Gaspar Cusachs Collection, loaned to the Louisiana State Museum, New Orleans, LA (c. 1909-2016). Note: In 1878, there were 4,046 deaths from yellow fever in New Orleans, making that year the citys third-worst yellow fever epidemic and its worst epidemic of the disease after the Civil War.
