OHIO DECORATED BLANKET CHEST BY VALENTINE YODER. (Sugar Creek, Tuscarawas County). Original red paint with a large green and yellow urn of fruit and overflowing wheat. Yellow line borders. Dovetailed poplar case with a molded base and bracket feet. Handles were added earlier in the 20th Century to either end of the case and have been removed. Small chip on the front molding, otherwise good condition. See Ohio Furniture Makers 1790-1860, page 64, for a very similar chest. 41 1/2"w. 21"d. 24 1/2"h. Ex Austin Miller.
