Ohio Marked U.S. Harper's Ferry Flintlock Musket Dated 1815
This is an example of a late production U.S. 1795 Pattern musket as manufactured at Harpers Ferry Armory in Virginia between 1800 and 1815 with 70,000 in total production. This rifle is the third type of this model with rounded upper and lower finials on the trigger guard, strengthened stock and bayonet stud on the top of the barrel near the muzzle. The lock is marked: "HARPERS/FERRY/1815" behind the hammer. The Eagle and Shield are marked ahead of the hammer with U.S. marked on the eagle's shield. The left side of the barrel is marked "OHIO" with "US" and the Eagle head oval proof. The serial numbering on the barrel was discontinued on this model. The stock is marked "HF"/ "OHIO" on the left flat. The barrel is held to the full length stock by three barrel bands. Complete with raised comb buttstock, metal buttplate, sling swivels and ramrod.
