Signed, dated 1977 and inscribed ''Amaral 258P'' on a faded label sewn on the reverse, woven wool and horse hair tapestry on iron hanging rod.

This piece was originally intended to hang in the atrium of a Times Square hotel designed by the influential architect and developer John Portman. However, ultimately, this hotel project was not realized and "Muro de Calicanto" was sold to its current owner by Olga de Amaral''s agent, Ruth Kaufmann.

Condition Report: The colors on one side are faded, but the colors on the opposite side are brighter. Exhibits some wear generally consistent with the age and medium. Some surface soiling. Otherwise in good condition.
