Lot 290 | Painting by John Koch
Fine oil on canvas by John Koch (1909-1978). Koch's realist talents were honed at a young age with two summers spent in Provincetown under the influence of Charles Hawthorne, after which he taught himself by studying the masters at the Louvre during a four-year stint in Paris. His work is included in numerous museums and private collections, and his use of light has been favorably compared with that of Vermeer; c. 1970
