PAIR OF IMPRESSIVE BRONZE BUDDHIST LIONS
QING DYNASTY, 19TH CENTURY
each modelled seated on its haunches on a rectangular plinth with drapings, wearing a tasselled collar with a lion-head mask suspending a bell, the head with a fierce snarling expression, the female with its paw resting on a cub, the male with its paw resting on a brocade ball (2)
- Good overall condition
- There is a dent to the drapings underneath on lion, but it is not very noticeable and does not affect the overall apearance
- Some rubbings and wear to the surface as consistent with age
- We do not know if it is solid bronze. One lion weighs 4132g.
