Description: Pair Rococo Revival rosewood parlor chairs, John Henry Belter (New York, 1804-1863) circa 1858, laminated shield backs, serpentine seatrail, cabriole legs, casters, with plush upholstered seat and back; BH36 1/4" SH16" W19" D18" (2pcs)

Other Notes: The chair offered is identical to Belter's "dish back" side chair in the Industrial Design section of the Paris Grand Palais Exhibition.

This design is often refered to as the Springmeyer, after the Long Island New York family. The Springmeyers
were partners and brothers-in-law to J.H. Belter.
