NOTES Sold with a photo-certificate by Nicoletta Misler dated 5 Ocotber 1992 Pawel Filonow directed one of the departments of the Museum of Painterly Culture in Petrograd, which was established under Malevich's direction in 1923. "Filonow's pictorial aims demanded exhaustive attention to detail - a "control" and "exactness" in the handling of the minutely worked surface of the painting - in order to realize the goal of "madeness" which he strove to achieve."(Exh.cat.
